This Waiting Thing is Hard

Our adoption agency has an unofficial excel list of waiting families which I have taken to checking periodically. I have to say I am disappointed today on two fronts. The first being we are listed as #70 on the list.... still. We haven't moved up in a while, bummer. And secondly because the people at the very top of the list have been waiting for 8 months! Usually the top of the list is a good predictor of how long we will be waiting so I check for those people waiting for similar referrals as us and they are all at 8 months! This really sucks because 8 months puts us at July for a referral and the agency won't do referrals after first of July because the Ethiopian courts close for a month or so due to rainy season (unlike our govt. here, it is pretty ambiguous, one day they just decide it is time to close and once it stops raining, they reopen randomly). So.... all that being said, we may not get a referral until summer and then we wouldn't travel until fall... boo! We were really hoping to travel this summer to get our little boy.  I guess nothing is carved in stone and perhaps the referrals will speed up soon. I can only pray...
